Grimaldi Lines had started nine new “Motorways of the Sea” routes for passengers and freight, with low cost tariffs, in February 2009: Porto Torres - Barcelona, Civitavecchia - Porto Torres, Civitavecchia - Catania, Civitavecchia - Trapani, Civitavecchia - Malta, Genoa - Malta, Genoa - Catania, Catania - Malta, Trapani - Tunis.
