Scandlines expands service to Baltic States

Travemünde (D) - Liepaja (LV) in April

The German-Danish Scandlines Group further extends its RoPax-services to the Baltic States. As of April 27, 2010 Scandlines offers its customers an additional service from Travemünde (Germany) to Liepaja (Latvia). Liepaja is regarded as an interesting port of call by our customers due to different hinterland connections. Scandlines will also continue between Travemünde and Ventspils thereby offering a high frequency product from the German port while providing greater coverage and alternatives in the Baltic.
The routes will continue to be served with the RoPax-vessel "Urd" and early May the chartered "Envoy" will be replaced by the RoPax-vessel "Kaunas" which offers an improved passenger and lane metre capacity of 210 passengers and 1,570 lane metres.
The new route Travemünde - Liepaja is in competition with the route served by Ave Line.
