Ferry service Italy - Turkey closed down. Marmara Lines stopped ferry operations
In 2011 there will be no direct ferry connection between Italy and Turkey. Marmara Lines had offered a seasonal ferry service between the Italian port of Ancona until 2010 as well as from Brindisi until 2008 to the Turkish port of Cesme. For travelling from Italy to Turkey there is the only way to take the ferry from Italy (Venice, Ancona, Bari, Brindisi) to Greece (Igoumentisa, Patra), take the land bridge to Piraeus (200 km), take a 2nd ferry to Chios and hop from there to Cesme (3rd ferry) or from Piraeus to Rodos and from there to Marmara/Bodrum.
