New ferry line between Mersin (TR) and Port Said (ET) launched

Already on April 26th, 2012 a direct international shipping line between port of Mersin (Turkey) and port of Port-Said (Egypt) was opened by the Turkish Economy Minister, Mr. Zafer Caglayan, in presence of Turkish officials and businessmen. Signing of the bilateral memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Transport of the Arabian Republic of Egypt and the Ministry of Economy of Turkish Republic in cooperation in Ro-Ro Shipping Lines Operation and Transit Cargo Transportations between Turkey and Egypt was timed to the opening ceremony. The AnRussTrans RoPax ferry Anna Marine made her maiden voyage in 26 hours to transport 23 trucks on board to Port-Said (Egypt).
Currently, the shipping line is serviced by the RoPax vessel Apollonia, which has a load capacity of 70 trucks and 250 passengers, the sailing time between the two ports is 38 hours.
