Mediterranean Maritime Services launches new ferry link betw. Malta and Libya

The first commercial maritime service between Malta and Libya following the recently ended Libyan conflict was announced on 18st Feb, 2012 in the Maltese Press to offer passengers a direct and reliable sea freight-link to commute between the two countries in a reliable safe manner and with minimal effort and cost. The service is being launched by Mediterranean Maritime Services, a new strategic partnership formed by three well established groups of companies with a vast international experience namely Zammit Group, Fergün Shipping Co. Limited and BH Group of Lybia. Addressing the media during the launch, Joseph Zammit, director of Zammit Group explained how this service was created to re-establish the very important sea link between Malta and the North African country thus providing a special focus on the Libyan market. The service which will be offered in a direct 14-hour trip on board the Ro-Ro passenger M/F Azzurra which can carry up to 170 cars, or 25 semi- trailers or similar commercial vehicles and up to 700 passengers who may avail themselves of 38 cabins offering two-, three- and four-bedroom accommodation. The MF Azzurra will be leaving the Valletta Port through the Viset terminal every Wednesday at 18.00hrs, arriving in the port of Tripoli on Thursday at 10.00hrs and leaving again for Malta on Sunday of arrival at 16.00hrs entering Malta Grand Harbour on Mondays at 10.00hrs. Prices per passenger start from €90 and freight prices start from €450.
