Paldiski-Kapellskär now operated by DFDS. Joint Venture of DFDS and BSL
DFDS has entered into an agreement with the Estonian company BSL (AS Baltic Scandinavian Lines) to take over the company's freight and passenger route (ro-pax) between Paldiski, Estonia, and Kapellskär, Sweden. The transaction is subject to approval from the Estonian competition authorities. DFDS and BSL have established a joint agency operation with an ownership share of 67% for DFDS and 33% for BSL. The route expands DFDS' Baltic route network to the Stockholm region, and to the east, the route offers access to Tallinn and Estonia, and not least to neighbouring Russia and the CIS countries. The route will be operated under the DFDS name and colours. The Paldiski-Kapellskär route is operated by the ship 'Lisco Patria'. Lisco Patria, built in 1992, offers 1700 lane metres for lorries or passenger cars and has cabins for 242 passengers. The travellers have the opportunity to use both a buffet restaurant as well as an á la carte restaurant, two bars and a sauna on board. The crossing takes 10 hours. There are departures six times a week in both directions: from Paldiski at 00:15 arriving in Kapelskär at 9:45, and from Kapellskär at 11:00 with arrival in Paldiski again at 22:00.
