Grandi Navi Veloci launches new ferry links connecting France and Morocco.

The Italian Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV) announced the launching of the connection between the ports of Tangier and Nador, Morocco, and the French port of Sėte on 26 May 2012.
The authorities of the Kingdom of Morocco called for tenders to operate two ferry lines, because the efforts to continue the operation of Comarit failed. They approved GNV’s request of 20 February 2012 to operate two new ferry lines, offering a weekly (from mid June twice weekly) service between the Moroccan destination of Tangier and the French port of Sėte, in addition to a weekly service between Nador and Sėte.
The historical links between Morocco and France are reflected in these two new ferry connections which GNV decided to develop in response to the  requirements of Moroccan nationals resident in France. “The Authorities of the Kingdom of Morocco have our company with a prize in recognition of our commitment and professionalism”, stated Ariodante Valeri, Director of GNV. GNV launched its first ferry service to Morocco in 2007. In addition to weekly departures from both Genoa and Barcelona to Tangier, the company will therefore be operating two new routes from 26 May, connecting France to Morocco, thus offering a total of 12 weekly sailings to/from Morocco: six times/week Genoa+Barcelona-Tanger Med, four times/week Sète-Tanger Med and twice/week Sète-Nador.
