P&O closed Bilbao route in September Only Brittany Ferries will serve England-Spain

British P&O Ferries regret to advise that they will withdraw from the Portsmouth - Bilbao route at the end of September. Services will operate as scheduled up to and including the Bilbao - Portsmouth departure on Monday 27 September 2010. The ferry which has linked Bilbao in Spain with Portsmouth in England for the past 17 years is to close. The company P&O Ferries says that the route has been making ‘unsustainable losses’ and that it is now trying to relocate the some 252 workers from the ‘Pride of Bilbao’. P&O ferries say they will get in touch with any people who have reservations made for after that date, to offer alternatives or a refund. Brittany Ferries will remain to operate ferries from England to Spain (Santander).
