New ferry service from Portugal to Madeira and Canary Islands in July
Spanish ferry operator Naviera Armas is operating a new ferry service between Portimão (Algarve) and Madeira on behalf of Empresa de Navegação Madeirense (ENM). The ferry line between Funchal and Portimão starts on July 2, 2018 and will have a connection to the Canary Islands, where the rotation of the ship will be made.
The 12 weekly trips scheduled for this year always start on Sundays leaving the port of Tenerife and end on the following Thursday in Las Palmas. In the middle, there are Funchal-Portimão departures on Mondays and Portimão-Funchal on Tuesdays wit a sailing duration of 23 hours. This year's last trip is scheduled for 20 September. The chosen vessel is the Tijarafe Volcano with a capacity for 1,000 passengers and 300 cars. This ship already ensured the connection between 2008 and the beginning of 2012.
The cheapest trips in the Funchal-Portimão route cost from 170 euros for non-residents in the archipelago, 58 euros for residents and 51 euros for students.
