Current ferry services from Stockholm
Stockholm has a substantial year-round passenger and vehicle ferry network across the Baltic Sea.
The main scheduled international routes connect Stockholm with Helsinki, Turku and Tallinn. Most Finland services also call at Åland as part of their route pattern.

Värtahamnen
Värtahamnen is Tallink Silja Line’s main Stockholm passenger ferry terminal.
Ports of Stockholm currently states that all Tallink Silja ferries departing Stockholm use the Värtahamnen terminal.
Current passenger ferry destinations include Helsinki, Turku and Tallinn.

Värtahamnen is one of Stockholm’s largest port areas and handles both passenger and freight traffic.
Stadsgården and Viking Line terminal
Viking Line operates its Stockholm ferry services from Stadsgården.
The port area has extensive passenger and freight ferry traffic to Finland, including Helsinki and Turku via Åland.
Viking Line uses dedicated ferry berths with ro-ro ramps, reflecting the combined passenger, vehicle and freight role of these services.
Stockholm-Helsinki ferries
Stockholm-Helsinki is one of the main overnight passenger ferry corridors between Sweden and Finland.
Tallink Silja Line currently operates daily with Silja Serenade and Silja Symphony. The vessels depart from Värtahamnen and arrive at Olympia Terminal in Helsinki the following morning.
Viking Line also operates the Helsinki-Mariehamn-Stockholm corridor with Gabriella and Viking Cinderella.

Stockholm-Turku ferries
Stockholm is connected with Turku through passenger ferry services operated by Tallink Silja Line and Viking Line.
The routes call at Åland, normally Mariehamn or Långnäs depending on the sailing and timetable.
Tallink Silja Line currently operates Baltic Princess between Turku, Åland and Stockholm.
Viking Line operates Viking Grace and Viking Glory on its Turku-Åland-Stockholm network.

Stockholm-Tallinn ferry
Tallink Silja Line operates a year-round overnight passenger and vehicle ferry between Stockholm and Tallinn with Baltic Queen.
The route includes a call at Mariehamn and currently operates on an every-other-day pattern rather than with a direct departure every day.
The crossing takes approximately 16 hours.
On days without a direct sailing, Tallink also sells journeys via Helsinki. These require two separate ferry sectors and should not be described as a direct Stockholm-Tallinn route.

Åland ferry connections
Åland is an integral part of Stockholm’s ferry network.
Many Finland and Estonia services call at Mariehamn or Långnäs as part of their overnight route pattern.
These calls allow passenger and vehicle travel between Stockholm and Åland as well as providing intermediate stops on longer routes towards mainland Finland and Estonia.
Other Ports of Stockholm ferry gateways
Not every ferry serving the wider Stockholm region uses the central Stockholm harbour.
Kapellskär, approximately 90 kilometres north of central Stockholm, handles ferry routes towards Finland and Estonia. Nynäshamn, south of Stockholm, handles services including Gotland and international Baltic routes.
These should be treated as separate port entities rather than described as terminals within Stockholm city.

Passenger cars, motorcycles and other permitted vehicles can be booked on the main international services subject to operator conditions.
Freight also has an important role on the Finland and Baltic corridors.
Getting to Stockholm ferry terminals
Stockholm’s ferry services do not all depart from the same terminal.
Passengers travelling with Tallink Silja Line should go to Värtahamnen, while Viking Line passengers use Stadsgården.
Travellers should therefore check both their operator and terminal before travelling to the port.
Seasonality
The principal Stockholm ferry routes operate throughout the year.
Helsinki and Turku have regular year-round services, while Tallinn is also year-round but currently follows an every-other-day direct sailing pattern.
Additional departures, special cruises and timetable changes can occur during peak periods.
